Ingredients:

For the Pancake Batter:

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a splash of vinegar)

1 large egg

2 tablespoons melted butter


For the Smash Burgers:

500g ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat)

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)

Butter or oil for frying

Toppings (optional):

Lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, and onions

Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Pancake Batter:

In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.

Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed (a few lumps are fine).

2. Cook the Pancakes:

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.

Pour about ¼ cup of batter for each pancake.

Cook until bubbles form on the surface, then flip and cook until golden.

Keep the pancakes warm while you cook the burgers.

3. Make the Smash Burgers:

Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions.

Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and lightly grease it.

Place a portion of beef on the skillet and press it down firmly with a spatula to flatten it.

Season with salt and pepper. Cook until crispy on the edges, then flip.

Add a slice of cheese on top and allow it to melt.

4. Assemble the Smash Burger Pancakes:

Place a pancake on a plate, add a smash burger patty, and layer with your preferred toppings.

Top with another pancake to make a sandwich-style stack.

5. Serve and Enjoy:

Serve warm with your choice of sauces.
